Avatars

Once we had decided on the plot, storyboard, and casting for our film we were able to create avatars for each character.
The avatars were created by our group on the software called ‘pickaface’. They are what we created once we had casted actors for each of our roles in our horror. These avatars created helped us gain an image of what each character would look like and give a clear representation of each character.

Main character ‘Lucy’:
Lucy is one of the main characters in our film ‘The Collection Day’ as she is the one who falls victim to the killer.
Played by:  Emily Driscoll. Emily is another group member. We felt it was best to cast her in this role as she was part of the production team so knew what we wanted to achieve out of the role.
Role: The role we wanted ‘Lucy’ to portray was a seventeen year old teenager who was the older siblings of her brother aged eleven called ‘Josh’. She was the character who would fall victim to our killer ‘The Child Collector’ after trying to save her younger siblings ‘Josh’.
Costume: Average seventeen year olds girls’ clothing as we wanted her to be relatable to the audience. She also wore a red scarf as we knew this bright colour is a convention of a horror genre. This was incidental prop was used as most victims have associations with the colour red due to it being associated with the colour of blood and danger.

Character younger ‘Josh’:
‘Josh’ is a young male aged eleven who is the younger sibling of ‘Lucy’.
Played by: Matthew Driscoll. We wanted Matthew to play this role as we knew he would believable to this role as he is the same age of our character.
Role: The role we wanted ‘Josh’ to play was to be the younger version of the brother of the victim ‘Lucy’ who witnesses the attack from ‘The Child Collector’ to ‘Lucy’.
Costume: Average teenage male clothing as we wanted him to be relatable to the audience.

Main character ‘The Child Collector’:
‘The Child Collector’ is the killer of this horror opening.
Played by: Renya Szczodrak, she was another member of our group. We wanted another group member to play the role as she understood the brief of how we wanted the character to be portrayed. In addition, her physique was suitable as she is tall and slim meaning her exterior wouldn’t give anything away to the identity of the killer as no indications are supposed to be given away about the killer.
Costume: Clothing is very plain and minimalistic as it wouldn’t give any indications away to the identity of the killer.

Character older ‘Josh’:
Played by: Ryan Spencer. We wanted Ryan to be cast in this role as he has some similar characteristics to the younger ‘Josh’ meaning he would look believable to be an older version.
Older ‘Josh’ is the role of the seventeen year old teenager at the start of the opening who is the older version of the younger ‘Josh’
Role: The role of older ‘Josh’ was to be the older version of ‘Josh’ who is experiencing flashbacks from the night when his sister ‘Lucy’ is attacked by ‘The Child Collector’ but escapes.
Costume: Average clothing of teenagers so he would be more relatable to the audience adding to the realism element of horror films that they are supposed to have.

Character ‘girl 1’:
Played by: Abi Nash. We as a group wanted me to play the role as I would be able to play the role realistically and how we desired, in addition I am the same age of the character.
Female friend of the older ‘Josh’.
Role: Female friend of the older Josh at the beginning of the opening sequence.
Costume: average clothing of female teenagers to make her more relatable to the audience.

Character ‘girl 2’:
Played by: Renya Szczodrak. . we as a group wanted a member to play this role as she is the same age as the charcter and knew how we wanted the character to be played to make it believable.
Female friend of the older ‘Josh’.
Role: Female friend of the older Josh at the beginning of the opening sequence.
Costume: average clothing of female teenagers to make her more relatable to the audience.
