The 180 degree rule

The 180 degree rule is a guideline which is used to show the space between a character and another or different objects. The axis connects the different characters by keeping the camera on the one side for each shot to make sure the characters don’t look as if they are on the same side. So the person on the right will stay on the right and so the viewer doesn’t get disorientated when the camera crosses the line it’s known as jumping or crossing the line. When they do cross the line they have to show the movement of the camera which will show the characters on the opposite side.
